An Autumn/winter focused palette is always exciting, as we focus on these seasonal tones, its critical to consider what makes them new, with such a strong focus on nature at this time, we have looked to the golden hour as a source of inspiration.

Rich colours appear during that magical time, shortly after sunrise or just before sunset, when the daylight is redder and softer. It is a prime time to capture the best shots of the day, referred to on Instagram as the golden hour glow. A snippet of time in the day when the sun is shining down, you can feel the warmth on your skin, the day is drawing to a close and the evening is ahead of you. Natures soft lighting makes your skin look dewy and sun kissed, creating a warm glow that’s emulated through the lens.

The Pantone Golden Hour palette delves deep into the warmth generated during these beautiful moments.

Two key tones under pin the palette, yellow and blue. Yellow creates an essential warmth, bringing rich qualities to orange/brown and the greens, adding a very on-trend saturation level. The saturation here is also where the velvety blue comes through within the deep red/purple and hunter green. Whilst there is not a true blue within the range, blue has its place embedded within these tones.

For these tones to work at their best, design with matt surfaces that can absorb the tones/light. Such as packaging for food, beauty as well as outdoor led lifestyle products. Golden Hour is also perfect for interiors, architecture and products that can be both indoors and out.

These colours excite, adding to the anticipation of a new season and the possibilities it brings, a chance to reset and refocus.

Combining these colours together is truly where the magic happens, as within nature it’s the combinations you see that deliver that sense of drama. When placed together this is when these tones really epitomise nature’s glow. PANTONE Amber glow ignites when put next to PANTONE 18-1411 Plum wine or PANTONE 19-5511 Hunter green. When PANTONE 14-0846 Yolk yellow is placed next to PANTONE 17-0336 Peridot you can get a real feeling of nature. While PANTONE 17-4818 Bristol blue and PANTONE 19-5511 Hunter green creates an inky, moody feeling. PANTONE 14-0846 Yolk Yellow & PANTONE 16-1350 Amber Glow provide a truly classic Autumnal golden hour combination, rich and warming..
